Hatchery Maintenance

Following the nesting of mother turtles, the eggs are relocated carefully to the hatchery. The hatchery is regularly maintained for ideal environmental conditions, including precise temperature, humidity levels, and quality of sand, to replicate the natural nesting environment with precision.

Education & Experiential Program

Guest involvement, public awareness, and education are key to our conservation efforts at Bubbles. Every evening, we hold a Turtle Talk for resort guests to learn about sea turtles and our project. Guests can also witness hatchling releases or nesting mothers. We offer a week-long experiential program with hands-on workshops and behind-the-scenes conservation activities, some of which are open to all guests.

Habitat Restoration & Protection

Protecting our island wildlife is extremely important to our team at Bubbles. It is also critical for our sea turtles that we continue to conserve and maintain their habitats. Each week we carry out a beach clean, removing any rubbish that is polluting our turtles nesting grounds. We also ensure that the marine environment is free from any debris by performing reef cleans throughout the season.

Research & Monitoring

Nightly patrols are conducted in shifts from 9:00 PM to 7:00 AM to monitor turtle activity on the beach and in the hatchery. Data is collected on mother turtles and hatchlings, including timings, carapace size, egg/hatchling numbers, and face identification. This data helps understand nesting behavior and hatching success, and is also shared with the Department of Fishery for the Malaysian green sea turtle census.

Collaboration & Partnership

By collaborating with other conservation organizations (e.g. Fuze Ecoteer) and governmental bodies (e.g. Department of Fishery), Bubbles Turtle Conservation (BTC) forges partnerships to amplify efforts and promote a united approach towards sea turtle conservation.
